2nd Phase	Elementary 2	Practical Audio-Visual Chinese (2) Modern Chinese (1) Lessons 10-16 + Modern Chinese (2) Lessons 1-2	Approximately 900 words	Band A1-A2	A1-A2	1. Able to use simple sentences to describe familiar things in everyday life, daily routines, as well provide personal details. 2. Able to describe the content of a short film. 3. Able to use familiar daily language and vocabulary to describe people, places and things. 4. Able to write basic phrases and sentences.
3rd Phase	Intermediate 1	Practical Audio-Visual Chinese (3) Lessons 1-7 Modern Chinese (2) Lessons 3-11	Approximately 1350 words	Band A2-B1	A2-B1	1. Able to describe your personal background, the surrounding environment as well as express your immediate needs using basic vocabulary. 2. Able to understand sentences and common words in relation to oneself. For example; basic personal information, family, shopping and work, etc. 3. Able to exchange and communicate basic information through simple daily conversations in covered topics.
4th Phase	Intermediate 2	Practical Audio-Visual Chinese (3) Lessons 8-14 Modern Chinese (2) Lessons 12-16+Modern Chinese (3) Lessons 1-2	Approximately 1600 words	Band B1	B1	Able to understand the main points of a conversation on familiar topics related to work, study, and entertainment when listening to speakers of standard chinese.
5th Phase	Intermediate 3	Practical Audio-Visual Chinese (4) Lessons 1-7 Modern Chinese (3) Lessons 3-9	Approximately 2000 words	Band B1	B1	Able to understand the main points of slightly more complex conversations, that may include technical details specific to a field of specialization, which could also be abstract.
6th Phase	Intermediate 4	Practical Audio-Visual Chinese (4) Lessons 8-14 Modern Chinese (3) Lessons 10-16	Approximately 2500 words	Band B1	B1	1. Able to directly and coherently describe one's personal experiences, hopes and dreams, as well as real or imagined events. 2. Able to explain plans or events in an orderly manner; as well as able to provide brief reasons to support their views.
7th Phase	Advanced 1	Practical Audio-Visual Chinese (5) Lessons 1-7 Modern Chinese (4) Lessons 1-8	Approximately 3500 words	Band B1-B2	B1-B2	Able to understand the details of long and complex texts. By re-reading, you will be able to understand more difficult texts, regardless of whether the subject is related to your personal area of specialization.
8th Phase	Advanced 2	Practical Audio-Visual Chinese (5) Lessons 8-14 Modern Chinese (4) Lessons 9-16	Approximately 4500 words	Band B2	B2	Can understand the content of various abstract or complex topics, even if the structure or relevance of the utterance may not be clear; but in some unfamiliar spoken accents, some additional details may need to be confirmed.
9th Phase	Advanced 3	看報學中文 Modern Chinese (5) Lessons 1-8	Approximately 5650 words	Band B2	B2	Understand formal occasions, as well as more complex, abstract, and unfamiliar topics: 1. Able to describe details clearly and carefully, integrate secondary topics and make appropriate conclusions. 2. Be able to respond fluently, freely, appropriately and convincingly towards the opposing argument. 3. Be able to use other explanations, reasons and related examples to extend and support your own arguments
10th Phase	Advanced 4	Modern Chinese (5) Lessons 9-16	Approximately 7000 words	Band B2-C1	B2-C1	Able to understand the content of oral coherent narrations such as speeches, broadcasts and reports with irregular language or with rare technical terms.
11th Phase	Fluent	Modern Chinese (6) Lessons 1-8	Approximately 8000 words	C1	C1	Can understand almost all forms of written language, including abstract, complex, or quite colloquial literary or non-literary works.
12th Phase	Fluent	Modern Chinese (6) Lessons 9-16	Approximately 8000 words or more	C1	C1	Understand formal occasions, as well as more complex, abstract, and unfamiliar topics: 1. Able to deliver clear, fluent, well-structured and logical conversations, and can help listeners master important parts. 2. Able to maintain a position with clear and persuasive arguments. 3. Can freely adjust the way of speaking to meet the needs of listeners.
