1. Applicants must be at least 18 years old, and be currently enrolled students at Université Gustave Eiffel in France.
2. Individuals meeting any of the following criteria are ineligible to apply:
(1) Those with overseas Chinese status or Republic of China (Taiwan) nationality (including individuals from Mainland China, Hong Kong, and Macau).
(2) Those who are exchange students admitted to universities in Taiwan through academic cooperation agreements signed between Taiwanese institutions and foreign schools during their
stay in Taiwan.
(3) Those who are simultaneously receiving scholarships or grants provided by the Taiwanese government or educational institutions.
(4) Those who have previously had their Huayu Enrichment Scholarship revoked by the Ministry of Education.
Application Process
Step 1: Seek recommendation from at least one teacher at Gustave Eiffel University in France.
Step 2: After obtaining the teacher's recommendation, submit the required application documents:
Taiwan Huayu BEST Scholarship Application Form (see attachment)
A copy of your passport (valid until at least January 14, 2026)
Two 2-inch photos
A certificate of enrollment in French or English
A motivation letter in French or English (please explain your motivation and plan for studying Chinese in Taiwan, with a limit of 800 words)
At least one recommendation letter in French or English (no specific format required, but please include the name of the recommending teacher, and also the class and the name of the recommended student).
A copy of financial proof issued within the past three months: Applicants must have at least €850 (approximately TWD28,000).

Step 3: Qualified applicants will be notified for an interview.
Step 4: The center will announce the list of scholarship recipients to let the recipients start applying the visa.
1. French nationals do not need to apply for a stay visa for stays of less than 90 days.
2. If you are unsure whether a stay visa is required, please go on this website to check.
3. If you are not from a visa-exempt country, please contact the Taipei Representative Office in France to apply for a stay visa. The required documents are as follows:
(1) Visa Application Form: https://visawebapp.boca.gov.tw
(2) Passport: Must have at least 6 months of validity from the date of entry.
(3) Two Passport Photos: Taken within the last six months.
(4) Admission Certificate from the Chinese Language Center: Provided by the school.
(5) Motivation Letter: A detailed explanation of your reasons and plans for studying Chinese in Taiwan.
(6) Proof of Financial Support.
(7) Proof of Flight Reservation: A one-way or round-trip ticket.
(8) Visa Fee: Regular processing: €47; expedited processing: €71.
